HMAS GOORANGAI MEMORIAL SERVICE
The Service at Queenscliff on 21 November, 2010 marked the 70th Anniversary of the sinking of the Goorangai on 21 November 1940. By coincidince this occurred 10 days before the launch of HMAS ARUNTA. The Memorial Service was held in perfect conditions, warm sunshine and a cool breeze off the ocean. The numbers were down on last year but the service was moving and successful. The lunch was buffet style of a very high standard. The Geelong Memorial Band played great tunes of a naval kind during lunch and the cadets from HMTS Tingara gave a wonderful exhibition of their skills with the drums.
